Our 5 favourite bathroom trends of 2021

Home improvements have hit an all-time high in the past year. Being stuck in our homes for weeks on end will likely have made us all reconsider our choices and reevaluate our style. Since the pandemic hit, it’s been suggested that Brits have spent over £110bn on home improvements*. And as people take more interest in their homes, along come new trends. Smart? Trendy? Luxurious? Minimal? Timeless? Whatever your style, there’s a myriad of choices. Here are a few bathroom trends that have caught our eye.

Blended Rooms

After months of bland repetitiveness, many people are looking for an injection of vibrancy. Big and bold is the theme for a blended room. Think spa-like murals fused with beautifully finished roll top baths or a bold shower enclosure like our View #2. You can further enhance the look of the Crittall doors of this enclosure with a digital print. Think of a Morrocan inspired space with mirrors and soft furnishings of deep red and orange. It's a feast for the eyes.

Black Bathrooms

Long gone are cold, clinical bathrooms. Instead, the current trend is at the other end of the colour spectrum in black bathrooms. Bringing a deeply luxurious finish, a black bathroom is deeply intimate and draws your eye gaze to small features within the room. Sexy, sleek and extremely chic, this trend is going to be huge and let us tell you, black is far from boring. Most of our enclosures are available with black component finishes, and a great example is The Oban. The matte black forged frame combined with an exceptionally smooth gliding door is the epitome of modernity.

Fluted Finishes

Fluted finishes are currently seeing a resurgence in popularity. This kind of grooved finish provides instant privacy while still allowing light to fill a space. There’s a timeless classiness to this style. Think Art Deco and you’ll be on the right lines. Plus the tactile pleasure of the ribbed surfaces adds another dimension to your room. Our next product launch will offer fluted glass across a range of our enclosures.

Minimalism

It would be easy to think a trend for minimalistic bathrooms would be sterile and cold but far from it, the focus is more on making a relaxing, serene space allowing for the indulgence of headspace and clarity. No clutter, no mess, the minimalism bucks against the busy bathroom trends we’ve mentioned so far. Frameless shower enclosures like those in our View Collection provide seamless integration to these beautiful spaces. A haven in your home, a minimalist bathroom might be just the calm tranquillity you need.

Book Matched Marble

Book-matched marble simply has to make our bathroom trend list because it is by far one of the most popular finishes in our showrooms currently. Book matching is where two (or more) adjoining surfaces meet to give the impression of an opened book. Back in the limelight, marble is a beautiful, natural material that has timeless elegance and beauty. With a variety of colourings and veinings available, marble can completely transform a space and instantly give a high-end finish.
